Billboard Ideas

Out of these four ideas, I think the fourth works the best beause the red contrast against the black and white background stands out and draws the attention of the people passing. The size of the writing is also very readable and big enough to read from a distance. I have used different Gazette newspapers as the background and decided to use the billboard to advertise the Gazette as a whole rather than just my own local newspaper. This is because I dont feel that a newspaper as small and local as mine would have either the funds or the audience to make a billboard this size worthwhile. Therefore, the fact that the billboard is aimed at advertising Gazette papers as a whole means that it is more realistic and it indirectly advertises my own newspaper at the same time.

However, after creating the main task and website I decided that it would be much more appropriate to use the 'Standard' masthead on the billboard rather than the 'Gazette'. This creates three products that converge in terms of audience appeal, colour, format and branding.

Bus stop Billboard designs



These three examples of possible bus stop billboard designs are effective in their simplicity. However the fact that they do not include a photograph means that they arent very effective in attracting the eye of the passer-by. Therefore, although i feel that the text sums up the aims of the newspaper and accurately advertises the paper, none of them achieve the aim which is to draw in the audience and attract their custom. I am now in the process of creating and choosing a design that is more attracive and exciting, whilst still including the text shown in these three designs.

Template for Billboard (Outside of shop)

I have chosen to create a billboard to be placed outside of a shop as well as my larger billboard at a bus stop. This is because i feel that a local newspaper like mine would be more inclined to produce advertisements on this smaller scale due to the small area it covers as well as the relatively low budget in comparison to large national newspapers.
